Position Overview

The Career Development Consultant plays a major role in the success of the Lacy School of Business Career Development program. This position provides essential support in the Career Development office to students and employers, serving as an employer outreach contact, as well as providing career advising and development opportunities for undergraduate students in the Lacy School of Business. In addition, this position provides leadership for the project based platform Bluework.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the office and the Lacy School with employers and campus contacts. Develop and maintain relationships with employers seeking to recruit Lacy interns and graduates
  • Talk with employers, students, and Butler faculty to build project-based learning opportunities for students. Manage the Salesforce platform.
  • Provide career advising for students through resume critiques, interview tips, networking advice, internship and job search guidance and promotion of campus resources such as the Handshake career database, other electronic resources, and various assessments
  • Track student progress in the Career Development Blueprint program
  • Prepare and provide presentations on a variety of career-related topics to students
  • Assist in training Executive Career Mentors

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2 years of experience in career counseling, preferably at the university level, with responsibility of program design, administration, and evaluation in career services, corporate human resources, or higher education

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s Degree
  • Effective communication, networking, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, CRM systems, Excel, Canvas, PowerPoint
  • Strong leadership and effective public speaking skills
  • Certification in career assessments including Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Focus2, Strong Interest Inventory, StrengthsQuest, and others is a plus
